The academic year of UNITAS is divided into four "quarters".
You can study for 3months as a short-term course student or for 2years as a pre-college visa student in accordance with your learning objective.
Our classes are organized into 4 different levels: Beginner, Intermediate1, Intermediate 2 and Advanced. Placement into levels is determined from the result of the placement test, interview and students' needs analysis.
If you are a complete beginner, you will acquire basic structural foundation with 6months of study in beginner class.
After finishing the beginner level, you will have developed your four basic abilities of reading, writing, speaking and listening to a 1-year intermediate level.
At the advanced level, you will improve your skills in self-expression enough to debate, write essays and make presentations at universities or companies.
Beginner Class (Beginner1: 3months ・ Beginner2: 3months)
Starting from Hiragana and Katakana, you will learn basic grammar and vocabulary.
JLPT(The Japanese Language Proficiency Test) 3 and mastering 660 kanji is the final target of this level.
Intermediate Class (Intermediate1: 6months ・ Intermediate2: 6months)
Based on basic grammar knowledge you studied at the beginner level, you will move on to a more practical study of Japanese comprehension and its usage.
JLPT 1 or 2 and mastering 1,000 kanji is the final target of this level.
Advanced Class (6 months)
The target of the advanced level is to acquire a command of Japanese competing with a native speaker in a university class or business scenes.
You will master 2,000 kanji and the equivalent grammar knowledge and vocabularies of JLPT 1.
Supplementary Class
For any students falling behind in their classes, we offer a supplementary class before or after a regular class for free.





Preparation for entrance exam and EJU

(Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students)
In most entrance examinations of undergraduate courses, graduate schools, or vocational schools, special entrance examinations are held for foreign students.
The content of selection is as follows:
EJU(Japanese subject) ・ Written Examination ・ Short Essay in Japanese ・ Interview in Japanese ・ English

As for EJU, generally, applicants applying for liberal arts faculties take Japanese, Japan and the world, and Mathematics course 1.
However, the combination of EJU subjects and the content of examination vary depending on each university.

Preparation class for EJU
You can take EJU twice a year in June and November.
June test examinees can take four test-preparation classes of Japanese subject a week from April, and November examinees can take the classes from October.
We also offer charged classes for the applicants who must take Japan and the world, and Mathematics course 1.
We open intensive preparation classes 2 weeks before the test day for both examinees, only at the Tokyo branch.
Prep class for university and graduate school entrance test
In preparation for the entrance test, it is required to have the advanced ability to write a short essay in Japanese with some expertise about your major subject.
Accordingly, in our prep classes, we provide reading materials related to your major subject to enable you to build your Japanese vocabulary and write a more persuasive essay.
